We had a 5 week period of environment design. The task was a bit daunting as we were to "use what we know about modular design" all though we hadn't been taught much about it.

I set out to make some streets in a late 1800's style and feeling.

I browsed through a lot of photos on Pinterest and Google but had a hard time nailing a search that would help me find the architectural style I was looking for. Time passed, and I had to get started to at least have some placeholder modules.

Two weeks of downtime due to lack of motivation due to the lack of reference, I hardly got anything done. One prop here, one texture there.

Assassin's Creed Syndicate was launched on PC the weekend before week 5, which was exactly the kind of architecture I had wanted to make! It was an insta-purchase and I started taking screenshots of areas and buildings I wanted to portray, using it as guidance in order to model at least one more modular kit.

I wish for two things: Either that I got the game earlier, or I had chosen a different kind of environment.
I should have made a much smaller area and worked on adding tons of props and debris and such. Making it more dirty, used, worn..
Being a student, luckily I can fail and learn from my mistakes.

Models were done in Modo, textured in Substance Designer and Substance Painter.
